Maryland's Class S certificate is an add-on to a base Wastewater Treatment class (COMAR 26.06.01), required for operators responsible for a plant's solids/biosolids handling processes: thickening, digestion, dewatering, and stabilization. It is one of two add-on certificates in Maryland's ladder, alongside Class A (Advanced).
Why Solids Handling Matters More in Maryland
