Who Regulates Wyoming's Water Systems
The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Water Quality Division, administers operator certification for public water systems under Chapter 5 of the Wyoming Water Quality Rules and Regulations. Certified operators are required for any community or non-transient non-community public water system.
Water Treatment Certification Levels
Wyoming water treatment operator certification uses four levels:
  • Level 1 Water Treatment Plant — entry-level; typically smaller systems
  • Level 2 Water Treatment Plant
  • Level 3 Water Treatment Plant
  • Level 4 Water Treatment Plant — the largest and most complex facilities, generally surface water plants or facilities using advanced processes (reverse osmosis, filtration, coagulation, sedimentation)
