Why Collection Infrastructure Concentrates in Larger Towns
Wyoming's low population density means many small communities rely on lagoon-based wastewater systems with minimal piped collection infrastructure, rather than an extensive sewer main network. Piped collection systems requiring certified operators are therefore concentrated in the state's larger municipalities, where sewer mains, manholes, and lift/pump stations form a more extensive network.
